Georgia Browne is a freelance historical flute player. She plays on a selection of handcrafted historical flutes and can be heard playing a wide variety of music as a chamber and orchestral musician. She performs regularly with period instrument orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Gabrieli Players, Ensemble Pygmalion and the Icelandic chamber group Nordic Affect with whom she has made a recording ‘Music for Flute and Strings’ by Carl Friedrich Abel on the Brilliant Classics label. It has been an exciting year already, travelling to exciting new places, performing in impressive venues – Carnegie Hall in New York City and La Chapelle Royale in Versailles – and working with two early music legends Fabio Biondi and Christophe Rousset.

Concert review by Jonas Sen

...The trio by Quantz was especially graceful......Telemann’s sixth quartet so elevated and inspired that I felt like I was holding a precious antique object from the baroque era in my hands, an object usually stored in a case of bullet proof glass. In a few words, the playing was an artistic revelation and I know it has changed the way I listen to baroque music...

Concert review by William Yeoman

...in the flute quartet, ably supported by string trio flautist Georgia Browne, sent off the sweet tones of her wooden flute to frolic with intertwining lines or float serenely over pizzicato with such grace and elegance . . . well, how could a performance like this be bettered?...

CD review by Steven De Waele

Abel CD review June 2012

“their commitment to their repertoire is evident in every phrase. Browne has a sophisticated palette of colours at her disposal, from ethereally limpid to icily edgy, and the single strings draw a gestural and tonal range from their instruments that puts far better-known string bands to shame...these players urge you to delve into their take on Abel. Warmly recommended.”

Abel CD review by Christopher Brodersen

Georgia Browne...is a thoroughly cultivated, highly capable flutist with a lovely tone...Nicely recorded and generously filled, this CD is an excellent introduction to the congenial music of Abel.
